Terrible tar-based 'sound deadener' was only deadening one thing - the poor guy's wallet! Anyways, we ripped it off (actually we just had to wait about 20 minutes and it fell off all by itself!) and we replaced it with 1.5 mm poly-butyl based hushmat.
